Privacy Policy

Updated: September 23, 2026

PicMason is a macOS batch image processing app built for creators, e-commerce sellers, and designers. We follow a Local First philosophy: all image processing happens on your own device, and your images are never uploaded to any server.

This Privacy Policy separately explains on-device processing, visits to our website, and emails you choose to send us.

At a glance

  • The app requires no account and does not upload your images or usage records to us
  • All image processing happens locally on your device and is never uploaded
  • EXIF metadata (GPS / camera information) is stripped by default; you may opt to keep it
  • Cloudflare serves the website and may process IP addresses and other connection data; the site code includes no advertising or analytics scripts
  • You can clear local app data on your device; we have no server copy of your images

1. What We Collect

You can use PicMason's local features without an account, email address, phone number, or other identifying information. The app does not send your images or usage records to us.

The app includes no advertising SDK, automatic analytics, or crash reporting code. The website code includes no advertising or analytics scripts. When you visit the website, our hosting provider Cloudflare processes connection data needed to serve it, which may include IP addresses and request metadata.

2. Image and File Processing

The images you select are processed entirely on your device. Resizing, format conversion, compression, watermarking, and metadata handling are all performed by the on-device engine — image content is never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on external servers.

Privacy protection is on by default: PicMason strips image EXIF metadata (including GPS location and camera information) by default. You may choose to keep the original EXIF in Settings; that information is likewise saved only in the output files on your device.

3. Data Stored Locally

PicMason only stores the following data inside your device's app sandbox so the app can work:

Settings and preferences (such as the default export folder, concurrency, and whether to skip existing output files); batch history metadata (processing time, output paths, profile information — not image content); custom watermark presets and templates.

All of the above is stored on your device, never leaves it, and is never synced to any cloud.

5. Diagnostics and Feedback

We do not automatically collect diagnostic information, and there is no crash reporting or automatic log upload.

If you voluntarily submit a bug report or feedback (for example, providing logs, screenshots, or a description of the issue by email), we use the information you provide solely to investigate and fix the problem. You may review and remove anything you do not wish to share before sending it.

This information is not used for any other purpose and is deleted once the issue is resolved.

6. Third-Party Components and Data Sharing

The only code-level third-party dependency in PicMason is libwebp (an open-source WebP codec, BSD-3-Clause, © Google Inc.), used to encode WebP locally. It is an on-device open-source library and performs no network communication.

We do not sell your images or personal information. Cloudflare hosts the website and may process connection data from visits; Apple handles in-app purchases (see Section 7). These services are separate from on-device image processing.

7. In-App Purchase

PicMason offers a non-consumable Pro purchase processed through the Apple App Store. Purchase, payment, transaction records, and receipt verification are handled by Apple and subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Apple acts as an independent data controller for the related transaction data, which may involve cross-border processing. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details. PicMason does not collect or store your payment information.

8. Network Connections

PicMason processes images in the app sandbox and does not upload them. In-app purchases and entitlement checks may communicate with Apple's StoreKit services.

When you visit the website, Cloudflare serves and protects the requests and may process connection data such as IP address, request time, and page path. The website code includes no advertising or analytics scripts.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

We have no server copy of your images. Local data on your device (settings, history, templates) remains until you clear the relevant data, uninstall the app, or delete its container. Cloudflare processes website access data under its service policies; emails you send us are deleted when the related matter is resolved.

10. Security

PicMason runs in the macOS app sandbox, and file access is limited by your authorization — you must actively choose which images to process and where to export; the app cannot access other files outside the sandbox.

Because all processing is local and there is no server, your image content is not a target for server breaches or network attacks. We still recommend enabling your device's security features, such as FileVault full-disk encryption.

11. Your Rights

You can manage locally stored settings, history, and templates on your device, or remove them by uninstalling the app or deleting its container.

If you have questions about personal information in website access data or emails, contact us at the address below. Applicable data protection rights depend on your location.

12. Children's Privacy

PicMason is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and update the date at the top.

14. Governing Law and Applicable Rights

This policy applies to users worldwide and does not designate the law of any single country or region as the sole governing basis.

Your data protection rights are determined by the applicable law of your jurisdiction, such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). Where your local law provides stronger protections, that law prevails.
